China-South Asia Health Forum and the 2nd Conference of the South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Held in Kunming

On the afternoon of November 20, China-South Asia Health Forum and the 2nd Conference of the South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service was held in Kunming. Over 100 scholars of medical education and healthcare from home and abroad participated in the conference online or offline.

During the conference, Prof. Shen Hongbing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Prof. Wang Songling, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences respectively delivered keynote speeches titledAdhere to the "Four Oriented" to Build a High-quality Public Health Personnel Training System andCurrent Situation and Prospect on Innovation and Transformation of Stomatology in China. Meanwhile, centering on the theme of Building a Quality Medical Education and Healthcare System, 7 experts from the alliance universities including Mahidol University, Thailand and Kunming Medical University etc. put forward their opinions on the innovative development of medical education in the post-COVID 19 era, the internationalization of medical education, and the positive role of medical education and healthcare in realizing the sustainable development South and Southeast Asia.

Over the Work Meeting of the alliance, Prof. Chen Guoqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and former Director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, was awarded Honorable Chairman of South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance, and Prof. Li Song, former President of Kunming Medical University, was awarded Honorable Secretary-General of South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance. The members of the alliance passed the resolution of Capital Medical University, China, King Edward Medical University, Pakistan and other 9 universities from home and abroad joining the alliance.

In 2019, Kunming Medical University and Shanghai Jiao Tong UniversitySchool of Medicine jointly initiated the South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance, the first international multilateral cooperation platform covering medical education and healthcare in China. In the past 3 years, alliance members have carried out a series of cooperation in personnel training, scientific research, academic exchanges, medical technology training and fighting the epidemic. At present, the membership of thealliance has expanded to 13 countries in South and Southeast Asia, with 52 member universities and institutions, and its relevant series activities have been included in the China-South Asia Cooperation Forum.
