LI Wenhui

LI Wenhui, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief Physician. He is the vice director of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University/Yunnan Cancer Hospital. He earned degrees of M.D. and MBA in 1986 and 2003 respectively and has been appointed as the Chairman of Yunnan Provincial Research Center of Radiation Oncology for 14 years. He was awarded numerous academic titles, including “Expert enjoying Special Government Allowances” and “Medical Leading Talent” from Yunnan Province Government and “Famous Teacher” of Kunming Medical University.

Having been engaged in cancer radiotherapy and combination therapy for 36 years, he has accumulated abundant experience in clinical medicine and hospital management. Prof. Li is particularly skilled in radiotherapy, comprehensive cancer treatment, management of related toxic and side effects of complicated and serious illness, including lung cancer, breast cancer, and esophageal cancer. His team has extensive contacts with Germany, Australia, Egypt and especially the Proton Therapy Center of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Wisconsin Medical College, University of Illinois in Chicago in US etc..

He is the member of Standing Committee of Radiation Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, member of Standing Committee of the Tumor Radiotherapy Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, member of Cancer Radiotherapy Special Committee of the China Anti-Cancer Association, Vice Chairman of the China Western Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, the first chairman of 4 Provincial Special Professional Committees on Radiation Oncology. He presided over 3 programs funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 sub-program funded by National Key R&D Program of China, 3 Yunnan provincial key projects, and 19 other provincial-level projects. He won 2 third prizes for Yunnan Key Science and Technology Progress Award. He has published more than160 his papers, including45 SCI papers (IF > 100), and compiled 9 monographs, such as Oncology Principles-consensus and Controversy, Essentials of Oncology radiotherapy, etc. He is the executive editorial board member of Journal of Cancer Control and Treatment, Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology and Journal of Kunming Medical University.

Being the director of Oncology/Radiation Oncology Master education, Doctoral Supervisor of Oncology, he has supervised 53 master and doctor graduates, thus has been awarded “Excellent Teacher”, “Excellent Worker”, “Excellent Teacher” for “teaching, supervising and service award”, "Backbone Teacher", "Excellent Party Member" for many times. He had studied oncology, radiation oncology and conducted post-doctoral research at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and Cancer Center at Illinois University in Chicago for more than 3 years. While studying abroad, he served as vice president of “Chinese Students and Scholars Association of University of Illinois at Chicago”, received many “Honorary Commendations” from the Education Sector of the Chinese Consulate and warmly received by Premier Zhu Rongji, Ambassador Li Zhaoxing and Consul General Huang Dongbi of Chicago.
