The Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Kunming Medical University was established by the national well-known dermatologist Professor Qin Zuoliang in 1942. In the recent 20 years, under the strong leadership of Professor He Li, the department has conducted in-depth and systematic research on "photodamage dermatoses", which are highly prevalent in Yunnan. On the basis of the Yunnan provincial hospital and university cooperation project led by Yunnan Botanee Biotechnology Co., LTD. (formerly Yunnan Dianhong Pharmaceutical) and the participation of Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. In 2020, Kunming Medical University took the lead again and cooperated with the above two units, won the approval of the Ministry of Education and was recognized as the "Provincial and Ministry Co-construction Collaborative Innovation Center".
Since its establishment, on the basis of good cooperation in the early stage, the center has integrated the advantageous resources of participating units, and continued to carry out a series of research on the pathogenesis of phototraumatic skin diseases, precision diagnosis and treatment technology and research and development of new functional products for skin care, the center has reached the leading domestic and international advanced level, promoting its development to a new high.
18 projects have been funded by NSFC-Yunnan Joint Fund, National Natural Science Foundation of China and Regional Fund, and 9 projects have been awarded as key research and development plan-Yunnan Special Project of Science and Technology (International cooperation), key research projects of Yunnan Province and other provincial projects. Published 230 papers in Nature Communications, Journal of Investigative Dermatology and other journals, organized 7 guidelines and expert consensus. Among them, Diagnosis and Treatment Guide for Melasma (English Version) was published globally in Dermatology and Venereology. 6 group standards have been organized and compiled, 9 teaching materials and monographs have been edited as chief editor, 1 teaching material has been co-compiled, and 8 teaching materials have been participated in the compilation. The center also won the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Grand Prize, the first prize and the first prize of the innovation team.
Professor He Li, the leader of the platform, won Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Innovation Award, the National Top Ten Model of Teaching and Education, the Expert with Outstanding Contribution of the National Health Commission, the National Famous Doctor, Revitalizing Yunnan Talent Award, and becoming Scientific and Technological Leading Expert in Yunnan Province. She led the team to carry out teaching reforms and was awarded the Yunnan Provincial Huang Danian Styled Teachers’ Team. Of the other major members of the platform, 4 were awarded Yunnan Provincial Famous Doctors, 2 were enlisted in Ten Thousand Talents Plan in Yunnan Province, and 1 was awarded the provincial special allowance.
During the construction period, the discipline has become one of the first clinical medical centers and clinical medical research centers for skin and immune diseases in Yunnan Province. And with the support of scientific and technological project, to assist Botanee Group to develop the first brand of efficacious skin care products in China - Winona series of products, promoting the development of great health industry in our province. The discipline has developed characteristics and advantages throughout the country.
