Yunnan Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine

Yunnan Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (hereinafter referred to as "Key Laboratory") was approved by Department of Science and Technology of Yunnan Province in August 2011, and officially opened in December 2013. It is supported by the Institute of Molecular Clinical Medicine of Kunming Medical University. In 2021, Department of Science and Technology of Yunnan Province organized the assessment of provincial key laboratory, and the result was Good. In June 2022, Key Laboratory changed its original affiliation to Science and Technology Achievement Incubation Center. In order to adapt to the development needs of the new situation, closely combine with the major social needs of the country andprovince, the Key Laboratory focuses on strengthening the construction of infrastructure, and actively integrate superior human resources and platform resources. Furtherly, the Key Laboratory refines the research direction in the field of stem cell and regenerative medicine, accelerates the improvement of scientific discovery and original innovation capability, promoting the development of the key laboratory to a new level.

In 2020, Kunming Medical University, relying on the Key Laboratory, cooperated with AiRuiKang Medical Investment Management (Beijing) Co., LTD to build the Stem Cell Transformation Research Institute. The company invested 30 million yuan to build a 3,000 square meters laboratory for the preparation, testing and preclinical research of stem cell preparations in line with GMP standards. A human life sample library covering an area of 300 square meters with a total capacity of 50,000 samples will be built in advance. The equipment value is more than 50 million yuan,including high-end equipment and complete conventional of molecular biology, genetic engineering, cell biology and other academic and technical fields. The Key Laboratory is able to perform studies including preparation of stem cell preparations, preliminary evaluation of safety and efficacy at the cellular level and in animal experiments.

The Key Laboratory will continue to integrate the stem cell research resources of Yunnan and Southwest China, and establish a collaborative and international stem cell and regenerative medicine research team. Through building a regional first-class stem cell and regenerative medicine research center, the Key Laboratory can provide a high-level cooperation and exchange platform for other stem cell and regenerative medicine research institutions.
